Welcome to Cudgegong Valley Public School. After considerable public pressure to establish a new school for the Mudgee District, Cudgegong Valley Public School was established 1984.  Since the school opened with an enrolment of 340, continual growth has seen the total number of students rise to over 550.  The school sits on a site that was originally part of Kempton’s farm.  I must note the generosity of the Kempton family for their donation of the paddock (known as the field) to the Department.

Our school has excellent modern facilities, enthusiastic and dedicated staff, and is set in spacious, park-like grounds and gardens with modern playground equipment. There is a broad, high-level degree of community support for the school and its programs, as well as recognition of a culture that fosters a sense of belonging and collective responsibility.

Student wellbeing is a priority, with positive discipline and happy students evident. The core values of being a responsible learner who is safe and respectful, are taught, modelled and rewarded.

Developing students who are engaged and successful learners, thriving in a culture of high expectations and collaboration is our aim. The school focuses on providing a well-rounded education with a strong focus on the teaching of English and Mathematics, student wellbeing, learning and support, sporting and cultural activities as well as an array of leadership opportunities.

Staff collaborate to develop and deliver quality teaching and learning experiences catering for a range of student abilities. The schools current enrolment is 554 students forming 22 classes. The school also caters for Gifted and Talented students with an Opportunity Class in Years 5 and 6. Technology is used to enhance learning across the school with each classroom having an interactive smart board and laptops for students to use. Thirty two iPads are accessible and a dedicated computer room has thirty two desktop computers.

We are committed to developing and supporting genuine, inclusive partnership across our school community and have an enthusiastic and greatly-appreciated Parents and Citizens group who undertake fundraising activities, contributing substantial funds to the school to purchase additional resources for our students. The Cudgee School Garden Club is run by a dedicated group of volunteers who assist in further beautifying the school and working with teachers and students to develop an awareness and appreciation of gardening and growing food for healthy eating. A sensory garden for our youngest students also features a sandpit.

This booklet is designed to provide our families with an overview of the broad range of educational opportunity offered to our students at Cudgegong Valley Public School. If you are moving to Mudgee, or already live within our zoned area, I would love to meet with you and take the opportunity to share with you all the wonderful things we have, and do, here at Cudgegong Valley and answer any questions you may have.

If there is anything I can do to assist you with the education of your child please don’t hesitate to contact me.
