Aboriginal Education

What We Do

At CVPS, we aim to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student outcomes and engagement through:

  • Regular Cuppa and Yarn sessions to support students PLP’s
  • Cultural learning opportunities and activities such as traditional dance, plant use and sustainability
  • Cultural celebrations and commemorations such as Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, Indigenous Literacy Day
  • Activities in our purpose built Yarning Circle to support learning about traditional plant use and sustainability.

The Zine

Our Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander students created a zine booklet titled "CVPS Plants and their uses". It contains information about some of the native plants that we have growing on our school grounds. You can download the zine here. They also created signs that have been placed near the corresponding plants around the school. They all have QR codes that can be scanned to view the information from the booklet about that plant.
