Ornamental gardens

The Ornamental Gardens are overseen by Kristie Cavanagh. Kristie is a parent volunteer who has a background in horticulture. She currently works locally in the horticulture industry and has a passion for greening schools and getting kids (and adults) into the garden, growing and nurturing plants and themselves along the way.

The garden club are working on beautifying the ornamental beds around the school while teaching children about changes in seasons, weather, temperature and the importance of soil and plant health. Children are encouraged to assist club volunteers in many aspects of gardening but they have developed a fondness for planting new shrubs and trees and some have developed a fascination with the bugs and grubs within the Ornamental Garden ecosystem.

Mr Greg Bray and fellow staff have created a self-sustaining Remembrance Garden at the front of the school full of native and exotic plants, memorial pathways and plaques. The garden is accessible to all within the school and serves as an example of what the Garden Club wishes to achieve. High impact, visually appealing gardens that are also low maintenance once established but provide habitat for birds, bugs and lizards and of course, our students.

We hope you can join us in bringing our vision for the Ornamental Gardens to life. All are welcome.
